You are our Why – Founder’s Story

My name is Kim Hutson. In March 2015, I got the call that no one ever expects. “You have cancer” was the shocking announcement from my doctor’s office. One minute, I was healthy, and the next, well, I might die. Waves of emotion came and went as I tried to digest the news. Shock gave way to fear, which led to panic. What will I tell my family? How will they react? If they cry, I’m going to cry.

As panic gave way to numbness, I researched this breast cancer disease. Life moved in slow motion as I weighed the many confusing options. Apparently, it was up to me to make all the decisions when I was the least educated to do so! I felt so alone even in the midst of the crowd of people around me. I couldn’t discuss my fears with my family and friends. Somehow, I thought I had to emotionally support THEM.

I found that it was easier to talk to others who had been sick previously. I met some sweet people who never tired of my questions. They understood my need to talk about hard subjects like treatments, side effects, and “what-ifs.” My hope is that this group, Hope Anchored, would be that support for you.

We believe in the power of Jesus Chris to heal. We will pray with you if you like, and we will pray for you. Our primary focus is your health, healing, and wholeness.

In Tune and In Touch

The Lord’s love for us is absolutely perfect. He is so completely good that He CANNOT think a mean or evil thought toward us. God is always working His plan for the world. He is always working things out for the good of those who love Him, even when it doesn’t seem that way. Our pain and our suffering clouds our vision of Him at times.

When you seek Him with all of your heart, you will find Him. God longs to be part of your life every day, not just on Sunday. He is not mad at you, no matter what you’ve done or said or even thought. No matter how long it’s been since you went to church or said a prayer, even if you never have, He wants to hear from you.

Sometimes, we feel ashamed of ourselves and think that God is also ashamed. However, you are not a surprise to God. He made you just the way you are, and He knew that you would do just what you did before you even did it! Our behavior does not determine His love. Nothing you can do will change the way He feels about you.

The Lord is a gentleman. He waits for us to open the door for Him. He doesn’t barge in and insist we stop what we’re doing to pay Him some attention. No, He waits patiently. Let there be no doubt that He loves you as if you were the only person alive. You are unique. You are special. You are His beloved. No one else in the world can replace you.

God misses you, dear one, no matter how old you are or how long it’s been. Talk to Him as a close friend. Start today, even if it seems a bit awkward or weird. Everyone feels that way at first. Not even your best friend loves you as much as God does! The Lord wants to be in tune and in touch with YOU always.
